The basics
What it is.
What is Kinnomy?
The operating system for your home: one private place for the calendar, bills, chores, lists, documents and everything your household knows, shared with the people you live with.
Who is it for?
Anyone who shares a home: couples, families, roommates, multigenerational households, people caring for a parent, and new homeowners.
What are the six layers?
People (who is in the household), Time (what is happening), Money (what it costs), Work (what needs to happen), Memory (what the household knows) and Context (what is happening right now).
Where does the name come from?
Kin, the people you share a home with, plus -nomy, from the Greek nomos, the way something is run. It is a nod to oikonomia, the running of a household, which is where the word “economy” comes from.
Plans and billing
What it costs.
Is Kinnomy really free?
Yes. The Free plan is $0 forever for up to 2 members. It includes the calendar, tasks, chores, shopping lists, Talk, the Emergency card and Tell the house. Every new household also starts with 30 days of Household+ free, no card needed.
What happens when the free trial ends?
Your household moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted. Paid modules, like Money, become read-only until someone upgrades, so your records are still there when you come back.
Who pays for the household?
Billing belongs to the household owner. One subscription covers everyone in the household.
Is yearly cheaper?
Yes. Yearly costs 10 months’ price: Household is $90 a year instead of $108, and Household+ is $190 instead of $228.
Privacy and data
What happens to your data.
Do you use our data to train AI?
No. Household data is never sold, never used for advertising and never used to train AI models, ours or anyone else’s.
Do you track where we are?
Only if a person turns location on for themselves. It updates only while they have the app open or tap Share now, keeps only the latest point, expires after 4 hours by default, and keeps no history.
Is our data end-to-end encrypted?
No, and we would rather say so. Your data lives in our database, and documents sit in a private folder that is only served to members of your household, with a permission check on every download.
Can we leave and take our data with us?
Yes. Export everything as JSON and CSV at any time, or delete the household entirely. Leaving is as easy as joining.
Do you show ads?
No. Not on any plan. We are paid by subscriptions only.
Using Kinnomy
How it works day to day.
Is there an iPhone or Android app?
Not yet. Kinnomy works in the browser on phones and desktops, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. Native iPhone and Android apps are on the roadmap.
Does it connect to my bank?
No. Kinnomy has no bank connections. Bills and expenses are typed in, imported from a CSV file, or read from a photo on Household+. Opt-in bank connections are on the roadmap as a plan, not a promise.
Can kids or grandparents use it without an email address?
Yes. Add them as profiles without a login. They still get a color, a place on the calendar, chores, points and a birthday reminder.
Can I be in more than one household?
Yes. One account can belong to more than one household, like your home and a parent’s home, with a switcher.
Does Tell the house need AI?
No. It works with a built-in parser. With AI switched on, it understands more kinds of sentences.
Does it work in dark mode?
Yes. The app has a light theme and a dark theme, and so does this website: choose Light, Dark or Match my device with the button at the top of any page.
