What needs to happen?

Tasks, chores that rotate, shopping lists sorted by aisle, meals and the small jobs a home needs.

A task has an owner, not a hope.

Every task has someone it belongs to, a due date, a priority, a checklist, a repeat and notes. An errand is a task with a place, like “return the drill to the hardware store”.

Tasks and chores

Chores

Chores that pass themselves along.

Set up a rotation once. When someone finishes a chore, it moves to the next person. Add points if you like, and a points board shows who is carrying the load.

Shopping lists

Lists sorted by aisle, automatically.

Keep several lists, one for groceries and one for the hardware store. Items are grouped by aisle on their own, with quantities, check-off and who added what.

Meals

Plan the week. The list follows.

A weekly meal planner and recipes with their ingredients. One tap sends the whole week’s ingredients to the shopping list.

Home maintenance

The jobs a home needs, on a schedule.

Set each job to repeat every few months: the filter, the gutters, the smoke alarm batteries. See what is due next, and keep a log of every time it was done, with the date, the cost and who did it. Logging a job can record the expense too.
