Inviting your household

A household is its members. Some sign in with their own account; others are profiles without a login. Here is how to bring everyone in.

In People, invite someone by entering their name, their email address and the role they should have. They get an email with a link. When they follow it, they create their account (or sign in, if they already have one) and join your household with that role.

Every household has a 6-character join code. Share it in person or in a message. Anyone who creates an account and enters the code joins your household with the role you set for the code, so you can hand out a code for the teenagers without giving adult access.

You can replace the code with a new one at any time.

Not everyone needs an account. A young child, or a grandparent who would rather not have another password, can be a profile without a login. Add them with a name, a role, a color and a birthday.

Profiles without a login still appear on the calendar, can be given tasks and chores, can earn points, and have their medical notes on the Emergency card. They count as members of the household.

Each member has a color, used on the calendar and across lists, so the week reads at a glance. Add a birthday and it goes on the calendar, with a reminder 7 days before.

Profiles without a login count toward these numbers. Every new household starts with 30 days of Household+, so you can bring everyone in from day one.

One account can belong to more than one household, for example your own home and a parent’s home. A switcher in the app moves you between them. Each household has its own members, its own plan and its own data.
