Location sharing

Location in Kinnomy is built to answer one question, “is everyone where they should be?”, without keeping a record of where anyone has been. Here is exactly how it works.

Nobody shares a location until they choose to. Location sharing is opt-in for each person, in Places. You can switch it off again at any time.

A shared location updates only:

• while that person has the app open, or
• when they tap Share now.

There is no background tracking. If you close the app, your location stops updating.

Each new location replaces the previous one. Only the latest point is kept. There is no location history to look back through, and nothing to leak.

A shared location expires after 4 hours. The household owner can change this to anything from 1 to 24 hours.

Save the places that matter, like home, work and school, each with a radius. Instead of a dot on a map, a person reads as:

• At Home, when they are inside the home radius.
• Near school, when they are close to a saved place.
• About 8 min from home, a straight-line estimate, labelled as an estimate in the app.

On Home, the Right now card shows who is where (for people who share), what is next today and what is still open.

When you tell the house about a trip, the plan reminds you that you can turn on location sharing for the day in Places. Turn it off again when you are home.
